RUSSIAN HILL HANDYMAN Co. | Unavail. ’til Wk of 11/19

Voges was pretty sick last night, wasn’t he? And that, after Barack Hussein Zito went positively Rain Man over the Birds in their own nest. How much do we love this team, Russian Hill?

Phew! Well, we are open again after a very quick four day trip to the (mother and) fatherland, which in our case is the Great State of New Jersey and the home of the 15th-ranked Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The trip was a joy, and the weather was something out of the first half of a Peter Weir film. While my bi-annual trips to the Garden State are always a day too short and leave me wishing I spent more time there, they serve as a constant reminder of why it is that I make my home and my career in San Francisco. As I like to say, “New Jersey is a great place to be from.”

In spite of the “Closed Until 10/18” sign that most recently hung on our storefront, there’s been a steady stream of job requests trickling over the threshold since before I left town to watch the Scarlet demolish the Orange. Given the demands of the still-pending work that remained prior to my departure and the list of new work that’s awaiting placement on our calendar, I’d like to preempt any New Customer Requests for work that needs to be scheduled prior to the week of November 19th. Unfortunately, absent some additions to our staff, all of our tradesmen are already looking at full calendars through the 2nd full week of the next month.

Once again, we can not accept any new work requests until after the 18th of November. If this changes, and if we complete our existing backlog of work prior to that date, we will immediately update our website with new information.

Gawking Tourists Ascend Powell next to The Fairmont. Judging by the shorts and lack of fleece, I’d wager that this photo was taken in mid-October.

If you’re taking a more long-term approach to hiring a handyman service provider, then please don’t hesitate to visit our Contact Us page and submit to us your online request for a consultation. If you’re hoping to schedule a job prior to the November 19th, however, we are very regretfully unavailable.

5 April 2012

While we await the cease-and-desist letter from the Mental Assassin’s people for using his likeness on our site to celebrate Opening Day (the Giants are traveling today for their upcoming start of the season — tomorrow — against the D-Backs in Phoenix, where I hear it is a dry heat), I do want to credit Kelley Cox for the above photo, which is reproduced without his permission, but for no personal gain — other than to source gigs from fellow Giants fans in and around Russian Hill.

I was at the final exhibition game against the As yesterday and had a difficult time dealing with the fact that it’s been 12 years since I sat in the park for the first game ever played adjacent to McCovey Cove, an exhibition tilt against the Yankees in 2000. One All-Star Game, two World Series, and one Championship Trophy later, it’s safe to say that I lead the city in all-time Sheboygan Brats consumed per inning (min. 20 games) by a right hander.

It’s a safe bet that no one really cares about any of that, so let’s get to the skinny — the schedule is FULLY BOOKED through the week of the 9th, which means that we are currently booking appointments for the week of April 16th and beyond. We do have occasional cancellations that make appointments available before those dates, so please send us your information via our Contact Page and we’ll be happy to put you into our “first available” cancellations queue if you’re looking for a date next week.

Your patience is — as always — appreciated.

Just the good ol’ boys, never meanin’ no harm. Beats all you’ve ever saw, been in trouble with the law since the day they was born. Straight’nin’ the curve, flat’nin’ the hills. Someday the mountain might get ’em, but the law never will. Makin’ their way, the only way they know how, that’s just a little bit more than the law will allow. Just good ol’ boys, wouldn’t change if they could, fightin’ the system like a true modern day Robin Hood.

I never spend much time in school but I taught ladies plenty. It’s true I hire my body out for pay, hey hey. I’ve gotten burned over Cheryl Tiegs, blown up for Raquel Welch. But when I end up in the hay it’s only hay, hey hey. I might jump an open drawbridge, or Tarzan from a vine. ‘Cause I’m the unknown stuntman that makes Eastwood look so fine.

Ulysses, Ulysses – Soaring through all the galaxies. In search of Earth, flying in to the night. Ulysses, Ulysses – Fighting evil and tyranny, with all his power, and with all of his might. Ulysses – no-one else can do the things you do. Ulysses – like a bolt of thunder from the blue. Ulysses – always fighting all the evil forces bringing peace and justice to all.
